When I joined my local box it’s not because I was hoping to be in the next @crossfitgames, it’s because I wanted more than the average workout.
We moved out of the city and to a rural town requiring us to plant new roots. Do you know how hard it is to make new friends as an adult? (hello nightmare!)
I decided to try out this crazy CrossFit thing. How hard could it be? 😳 I met with a coach to have some individual intro sessions who then invited me to a Saturday class. Walking in to a gym full of people ready for the WOD was a little intimidating. The coach introduced me and helped find a partner. What did I get myself in to? I was used to headphones and avoidance doing solo workouts.
When we finished a girl came over and introduced herself to me. Several others gave praise and fist bumps 👊🏼 The anxiousness disappeared as the endorphins took over. The energy was contagious.
A couple years later and the same support has continued. I’ve met some great friends and never had a dull workout. What I appreciate most is that those members, coaches and owners care more than just a sweaty workout. We check in with each other, provide encouragement, support one another in tough times and share a lot of laughs! It’s more than a gym, more than a class, more than lifting weights and pushing goals. It’s a community like no other.
Life is a little more fun with crossfitters by your side💚🖤
